Greek Food Diaries #1: My Favorite Restaurant in Santorini, Greece

Article and photos by Rebecca Wang

If you ever have the opportunity to visit the beautiful island, Santorini, make sure to stop by my favorite restaurant located in Oia (a coastal town on the northwestern tip of Santorini), Melitini.

Melitini is a family-owned small tapas restaurant hidden in a corner behind the bustling parts of Oia. I fell in love with this restaurant not only because the food was absolutely delicious, but also because the menu was extensive, the price was very reasonable, and the service was wonderful.

Some of my favorite items on the menu include their variety of spreads of tzatziki, tirokafteri, eggplant, & beetroot (make sure to get their homemade pita bread on the side), grilled octopus, spetzofai (spicy stewed sausages), traditional handmade pastas, and hot fish stew of the day. Don’t forget to end your meal with their fresh baklava (a sweet dessert pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped pistachios and drizzled with honey)!

If you are looking for a cozy and traditional Greek restaurant to try in Santorini, make sure to try Melitini for a perfect post-sunset dinner.
