Once again, for those who don’t want to be in the kitchen on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28,Chef Erin O’Shea is preparing her wildly popular Take-Home Turkeys at Percy Street Barbecue (900 South Street, 215-625-8510).  Whether for a smoked turkey as a stand-alone entree or a full Thanksgiving feast for six to eight hungry pilgrims, Percy Street’s offerings are appropriately abundant, and can be picked up at the restaurant throughout the day on Wednesday, November 27.

“Turkey lends itself nicely to smoking, taking on an intensity of flavor that you just can’t create with any other cooking method,” says Chef O’Shea, one of the country’s best and only female pit mistresses.  “Our smoked turkeys are delicious and effortless – just pick one up and enjoy!  For those who want all the trimmings, we’ve got our Smokin’ Thanksgiving Feast, which includes a wealth of tasty sides and even dessert.”

Take-Home Turkeys are available for $65 per turkey (approx. 15 lbs.), and include gravy and home-made cranberry sauce.  The Smokin’ Thanksgiving Feast is $225, feeds six to eight people, and includes one Take-Home Turkey with gravy and home-made cranberry sauce, plus Mashed Sweet Potatoes with toasted marshmallows;  Cornbread and Sausage Stuffing;  Collard Greens;  Baked Apples;  andPecan Pie.   Befitting the spirit of the holiday, for every turkey sold, Percy Street will donate the cash equivalent of one turkey to a local food bank.   

Take-Home Turkeys and Smokin’ Thanksgiving Feasts must be reserved by calling (215) 625-8510 by 12 noon on Thursday, November 21.  Turkeys and Feasts will be available for pick-up at Percy Street throughout the day on Wednesday, November 27.
